Sam McQuade is currently an Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice at the Rochester Institute of Technology in Rochester, New York. He teaches and conducts research in the areas of IT-enabled crime, technology in criminal justice and security management, and criminology.

 

Dr. McQuade has thirty years of experience as a criminal justice practitioner, teacher, and researcher. He is a former deputy sheriff, police officer, detective, and police organizational change consultant. He has also served as a social science program manager at the National Institute of Justice (NIJ), U.S. Department of Justice, and as a study director for the Committee on Law and Justice of the National Research Council of the National Academies of Sciences.

 

Professor McQuade completed his doctoral degree studies in 2001 at George Mason University, School of Public Policy, in Fairfax, Virginia. In 1994 he earned a master of public administration degree from the University of Washington, Graduate School of Public Affairs, and in 1992 he earned a bachelor of arts degree in Human Services Management from the Western Washington University.
