Chapter you read Chapter 1 Chapter 11

1. What is your overall impression of the Hastedt chapter you read? What did you think of the writing style and content? What were the weaknesses, if any?

2. Please look at the "Documenting History" box (p. 10 in Chapter 1, p. 339 in Chapter 11). This feature gives students a look at the real-world of policymaking and the chance to apply concepts to primary sources. At the end of each box, students are asked critical thinking questions. What do you think of this feature?

3. Hastedt & Knickrehm’s theme of "A Changing World" focuses on the differences between Cold War policy and post-Cold War policy as an intuitive framework for better understanding the IR issues confronting us today. What do you think of this text theme? Do you think it will help students better understand IR?

4. Because so many IR issues in today's world are regional in nature, a unique Regional Applications ends the text, to help students understand key actors and potential flashpoints in the 21st Century. Chapter 11 is from this section. What do you think of this section? Is it valuable?
