Techniques

The high incidence of cheating has spawned a plethora of devious techniques. Although it will come as no surprise that the two most popular techniques are looking at someone else's paper and using cheat sheets, some of the other techniques are quite elaborate. A brief sampling of these techniques follows:

Tape record the answers and wear a Walkman to class.
Write the answers on your arm.
Write the answers on your thigh and raise your skirt to see them during the test.
Purchase a pair of calculators that are capable of sending and receiving messages and use them to trade answers with another student during a test.
Develop a system of hand and feet signals.
Develop a system where the corners of the desktop correspond to answers.
Trade papers during a test and compare answers.
Fill in two scantron answer sheets and pass one to a fellow student.
Enlist an expert hacker who can download tests from mainframe computers.
Simply steal the test questions.
Sit next to the wall (fewer students will see you and the professor comes by less often.)
Wear a radio receiver to the test, while a second student located outside the classroom broadcasts the answers.

Clearly, cheating is often premeditated, and considerable time and effort are spent in preparation. It is arguable that such time and effort could easily and more effectively be spent studying.
