Introduction
All of us can recall particularly vivid dreams that contained frightening or exhilarating events. But what you may not have realized (until you read your psychology textbook) was that almost everyone has 3 to 5 dreams every night! These dreams correspond to a specific stage of the nightly sleep cycle called REM (rapid eye movement) sleep, when the brain is highly active but most of the body's muscles are paralyzed.
How many dreams do you recall having last night?
