This two-part activity focuses on olfaction, our sense of smell, and how it influences human behavior and experience. We suggest that you complete Part I, in which you learn about the anatomy and physiology of the olfactory system, before moving on to Part II.

Part I: Olfaction and the Olfactory System
What is olfaction? How does the olfactory system work? This activity takes you on an interactive exploration of the anatomy, physiology, and theories of the olfactory system. You will try your hand at experiments to help you understand how our brain interprets and adapts to olfactory signals.

Part II: Olfaction in Daily Life
It is important to understand the structure and functions of the olfactory system. But how does olfaction influence your life? In this activity you will explore the influence of your sense of smell on your moods, sexual behavior, and ability to taste foods.
