The MyPsychLab Faculty Advocate Program

The mission of the Faculty Advocate Program is to bring together experienced MyPsychLab (MPL) adopters who are committed to sharing ideas, insight and knowledge with the growing MPL community and to foster the integration of quality assets into their courses. Primarily shared through outreach activities within their geographic regions, this program partners instructors with instructors to further enhance their knowledge, skill and understanding of how MPL can increase student's knowledge and grade performance.

Have you been using MPL in creative ways to teach your traditional web-enhanced or online course with enthusiasm and success? Would you like to learn from someone who has? Our Faculty Advocates (FA's) are committed to advancing the support for online learning, and sharing their observations, best practices and expertise with the MPL community in three various ways.

Through live presentations at neighboring colleges and universities

FA's assist our Pearson technology specialists with service and training workshops on MPL through on-campus presentations to potential or current customers. These presentations typically vary from one-two hours, to a day-long workshop or related conferences. Faculty Advocates simply share what has been working for them in their MPL courses and how it has benefited their students and their teaching. Topics are based upon their experience and often include the following areas:

By taking calls from interested parties

FA's are also willing to accept phone calls or emails with inquiries from potential customers. These are arranged in advance by your Pearson technical specialist and are also scheduled according to your availability. It is not uncommon for an instructor who is considering MPL to wish to speak with a current user. This is an honest conversation to answer your questions and hear from someone currently teaching with MPL.

By conducting and presenting your MPL research at academic conferences

FA's are often conducting research, student surveys, and informal studies on the effectiveness of MPL with their students. The students in Sue Spaulding's Introductory Psychology course at UNC-Charlotte completed evaluations on the last day of their Spring 2004 course. As you can see, the responses are very postive!

Allyn & Bacon/Longman wishes to encourage the sharing of all data with the MPL community. For example, Arlene Lundquist presented her research results at APS (read the report here).
