What services will Longman’s tutors provide to my students?

Paper review service.  Our tutors will review student papers for organization, argument, style and flow.  Click here to see the evaluation form our tutors use when reviewing a paper.  Turnaround time on papers is 24 hours.

Tutors will not line-edit student work or fact check it.  Students are responsible for the accuracy of facts and content.

Help navigating the resources on MyCompLab.  If students aren’t sure how to use the features of MyCompLab (ResearchNavigator or ExerciseZone, for example) or need help with certain topics but aren’t sure where to get help on the site, our tutors will point them in the right direction and show them how use the site’s many resources.  In this way, our tutors will help students get the most out of MyCompLab.

What are the advantages of Longman’s English Tutor Center over tutoring services offered by other companies?

• We are the only publisher that supports in-house tutoring staff, thus maintaining control of staff and service quality.  See above for the qualifications of our staff.
• We give students contact options phone and fax as well as email and internet. This is important as many students do not have internet access at home, or may have a disadvantage reading or writing in English, or a learning disability. Generally, other services provide an IM screen, requiring typing and reading.
• We do have Interactive Web, (WebEx) with 2 way connection so students can share their page with us.  We also use the phone during WebEx sessions, so we have excellent voice contact with students while we are discussing the material on their screen.
• We promise 24 hour, next-working-day responses.
• We protect the confidentiality of our students.  We have a separate registration system, and do not reveal the names or personal information of our students.
