In Class Ideas

The most difficult concept in graphics is understanding the difference between a Paint environment and a Draw environment.

This activity, used at the same time as the initial Paint and Draw assignment helps students begin to think about different environments in a a light-hearted environmnent.

Materials needed for this activity include sheets of construction paper, a grid sheet, and arts and crafts materials. There should be a basket of materials for each group. The basket should contain a glue stick, scissors, tape, and a small stapler. Materials can include colored cardboard, bits of fabric, tiny puff balls, ribbon, popsicle sticks, and almost anything small that is on sale at a crafts shop.

Students are encouraged to be creative and have fun while thinking about the analogy explained in the textbook.
